A bella noche at Carluccio's Bath

As a loyal regular to Carluccio’s café in Bristol, I was very excited about the opening of it’s Bath cousin, located in Milsom Place. This area of Bath already houses Jamie’s Italian (now with attached deli), so two very similar concepts under one roof.

New street wine shop, old ideas...

Since the Olympics and Paralympics lit their last firework there’s been little reason for me to venture out east and it’s made me rather sad. So I was pleased to be invited to a preview night of a new London wine shop that’s opened up in Liverpool Street giving my Oyster card good reason to take me, and you, in an easterly direction once again.

eVines wine review: Don't judge a wine by it's label - this is Buitenverwachtig brilliant!

It's not often you take your first smell of a wine and think, "School pencil case"! But, that's exactly what happened here. It's lucky it had a memorable first smell as I was by that point already a little dismayed by what is without doubt one of the worst wine labels I've seen on a New World Wine for a long time indeed.

Vistamar Gran Reserva 2008 (Maipo Valley, Chile)

It's good fun tasting wines with a group of people. Often a bottle that I'm convinced will impress falls flat on it's face, and at other times something I consider to be a no hoper wins the hearts and minds of my guinea pigs. With this one I must admit I wasn't entirely sure which way it was going to go. Not many of the group had much experience of Chilean wine so I had even less of a clue what to expect....
