What the critics say:

"One of the most familiar of Champagnes, the Yellow Label is finely made—a fruity while structured wine. It has both fresh and fragrant fruit as well as richness, a soft, creamy texture and bright acidity. There is no sense in bottle ageing here—drink this wine because of its crispness"
James Suckling, Wine Spectator

A wonderful, appley, bready champagne that fits the bill for any occasion. Mouthwatering fruit, a splendid mousse and a tremendous finish - what's not to love? Champagne is the pinnacle of refinement amongst sparkling wines, and Veuve Clicquot is one of its most famous exponents.

Taste: It is a golden yellow with a foaming necklace of tiny bubbles. Pleasing to the nose, initially reminiscent of white fruits, then of vanilla, and later of brioche. It has a balance between the fruit aromas coming from the grape varieties and the toast aromas following the aging in the bottle. It manages to reconcile forcefulness and finesse, and to hold them in perfect balance.

Tech: The predominance of Pinot Noir provides a structure typical to Clicquot, while a touch of Pinot Meunier rounds out the blend. Chardonnay adds the elegance and finesse essential in a perfectly balanced wine. Grapes from as many as 50-60 different Crus go to the blending of Brut Yellow Label, all chosen by our Cellar master.

What:  The wine is a blend of 53% Pinot Noir and 47% Chardonnay. Yields in 2004, a vintage with excellent growing conditions, were an average 10-11,000kg per hectare, compared to 3-4000kg/ha in 2003.
